I finished this book last night, and I'm still thinking about it, and still processing it! π€ͺ
Nella is 26 and is the only Black employee at Wagner Books. She's tired of being the ONE, the microaggressions, and the overall uphill climb to find equal footing in her white (and pretty tone deaf) workplace.
She's thrilled when another "Black girl" (Hazel) joins the company - but things go weird quickly. Suddenly, Nella is being pushed out and Hazel is at the very top - and nothing makes sense.
This thriller speaks to anyone that has felt like doing the right thing puts you in last place. It's also a pretty powerful piece of social commentary about the world today.
Have you read this one? What did you think? And apparently, it's coming to the screen! πΊ
