Tana French is a beautiful and brilliant writer, and I’ll always read everything she writes.
Cal Hooper just moved to a remote village in rural Ireland, looking for a new life away from his detective days in Chicago. Only a local boy finds him and asks him to investigate his brother’s disappearance. This search puts Cal fully into this private community, and there is more than meets the eye of this sleepy town.
Honestly, this book made me deeply miss her Dublin Murder Squad series. While The Searcher and her other recent – The Witch Elm – were both incredibly well-written, not a whole lot happened in either of her newest books. I love (and miss) the pace of the Murder Squad series – and I very much hope she revisits them in her next books.
But, again, she’s a stunning and gifted writer that is a force of a talent, so I’ll never be too hard on her – or rule her out. She’s always going to be one of the best writers out there, so I eagerly await what comes next!
