Set in LA in '92, Ashley Bennett and her friends are living the life in their senior year of high school - without a care in the world. Then the Rodney King riots fall onto the city and Ashley feels like she transforms from "one of the girls" into "the black kid" overnight - and race suddenly takes center stage. The writing and the VOICE in this book were both incredible, and this is a must-read. (I just saw that @projectlitcomm agrees - this is their 20-21 #ProjectLITBookClub pick 👏) And, I can't wait to read more from the talented @christinahammondsreed ⭐️
