As a fiction fanatic, I rarely read memoirs but this was SO GOOD. Before Trevor Noah took the desk of The Daily Show, he grew up in apartheid South Africa - first beginning his life "born as a crime" to a black Xhosa mother and a white Swiss father where his birth alone was grounds for a 5-year prison sentence if anyone discovered this bi-racial union. From day one, it was Trevor and his fearless mother as a team - and it was this beautiful relationship as the backbone of his story that led us from South Africa's liberation to poverty and to domestic violence that would threaten her own life. This book made me laugh, made me tear up, and made me take a lot of pauses to let his words sink in. This book had the beautiful and the ugly - and it was truly a book of love. This book is a must-read all-star you need to experience.
